Every form of life

has found a home here
Riserva
Amid the dunes, water, and wind, the “Foce del Fiume Mesima” Regional Nature Reserve is home to a mosaic of unique ecosystems. It is a place where biodiversity is not merely a natural asset, but a language that invites us to listen to life in its purest form.

La Flora: Pioneer of the Wind

The first plants to appear among the dunes are the pioneer plants, capable of withstanding the salt and the heat of the sun.

Sea lilies and grasses create minimalist, perfect landscapes.

Inland, mastic, myrtle, and phillyrea protect and nourish the soil. Each species has a function: to retain, regenerate, and defend.

La Fauna: A Concert of Wings and Silences

Between the water and the sky, the Mesima Nature Reserve comes alive in a delicate balance of presence and movement.

Herons, little egrets, kingfishers, and many other species inhabit this landscape, which serves as both a passageway and a resting place. Here, life does not intrude, but accompanies; it moves gently, listens, and passes through.
